Butte County encompasses some of the most diverse terrain in the northern Sacramento Valley, stretching from the flat rice fields and orchards west of Chico to the volcanic ridge of Paradise and the Sierra Nevada foothills above Oroville. With a population of approximately 210,000, the county is anchored by Chico — home to CSU Chico and the county's largest commercial center — along with Oroville, Paradise, Gridley, and Biggs. Walberg, Inc. has been serving Butte County continuously since 1999, providing excavation, demolition, grading, utility installation, and fire cleanup services from our headquarters in neighboring Corning.

The defining event for Butte County construction in recent years has been the Camp Fire of November 2018 and the ongoing rebuilding effort that followed. Walberg was on the ground in Paradise within 48 hours of the fire, performing debris removal, foundation demolition, contaminated soil excavation, and hazardous material handling across numerous properties on the ridge. That work extended into Magalia, Concow, and other foothill communities affected by the fire. Years later, the rebuilding continues, and Walberg remains active in preparing building sites for new homes, installing septic systems, grading driveways, and trenching utilities for returning residents.

Beyond fire recovery, Butte County generates strong demand across every category of excavation and demolition work. Chico's university-driven growth requires commercial and residential site preparation, sewer and water line installation, and storm drain construction. Oroville's proximity to Lake Oroville and the Feather River creates infrastructure projects related to recreation, water management, and residential development in the foothills. The agricultural areas south of Chico around Durham, and in the western county around Gridley and Biggs, need pond construction, drainage improvements, and agricultural building pad work.
